Is it too early to suggest a location?

DFW covers a great deal of real estate, but it would seem that a cost parameter should be established. I have found some four star hotels in the area that offer less in the way of a meeting place than one might think, and beyond that such places tend to be a bit stuffy.

Also, the parking area would need to be one that could be reserved if anyone is bringing something special that others might want to view.

Suggestion: The Oasis at Joe Pool lake in Grand Prairie is a nice setting, with a large parking lot, but the parking area is distant from the meeting hall. This could be dealt with in the same way the Ferrari people do: One person could be left to watch over the cars and answers question about them. Of course, if no one is driving a 600 or such there might not be a need for this.

Is there a good cafe at an area airport? That would offer plenty of parking, and such cafe's are normally low key sorts of places that allow for groups and conversations.

I am thinking of perhaps the Grand Prairie Airport or the Arlington one, although it has been so long since I have been at either one I don't know if such facilities currently exist. And if they do would they be a good place to meet?

And quality photographs would need to be taken since meeting such as this look good hanging on the wall of the cafe. To us Mercedes are a lot of things (fun, trouble, money pits), but to much of the general population they are objects of wonder. I would think that the meeting place would welcome a memento.

Any suggestions?

Is there a certain requirement on what make of auto we would have to drive to the GTG???

I shouldn't think so. I was only thinking security in case someone did bring a rare car. Something like a 6.9 or 6.3 might not attract much attention, but a 600 would.

And then there is always the problem with older cars of someone helping them selves to the hood star.

Well....my neck of the woods would be a good stopping place on your second day of driving......unless you really like to drive a lot the first day.

Sure, everyone wants to see MB's, but to me it's more important to see the good peachparts folks.

It looks as if this could turn into a major get together instead of just a quick plate of BBQ or something! To try to keep it from fizzling, if it gets big, try to arrange around a quick in and out meal for those with limited time. It would be great to accommodate both categories.
