Do you ever read what you post? This is utter nonsense. I vote for a woman's right to choses and for equal marriage because I can find no legal argument against it.

If you do not understand the legal concept being violated in rape and actually believe that I would enforce it or vote for it then you are more ignorant than I originally thought.

Well, it's a two way street. To ME, you are just as much of a "piece of work," as you say that I seem to you.

The analogy that I offered is MUCH more applicable than you are willing to admit. You don't want to vote along the lines of your personal beliefs, while I can find no other way to choose.

As far as making blatant insults, I will hold up at "piece of work" and not return such insults and call you ignorant. I don't ALWAYS say what I really believe.

I find the most interesting concept you offer to be your, in effect, claiming that someone voting along the lines of their own personal beliefs to be "utter nonsense." Very interesting. I suppose our Founding Fathers should have just thrown out their personal beliefs and written the constitution based on the phases of the moon or something.

And that is what has been argued here. You are willing to force your beliefs on others via elections and I am not. I vote based on a legal argument, not what I believe. I believe it would be a good idea to ban religion but I do not have a valid legal argument to support that POV so I do not vote for any law inhibiting religious freedoms in any way. You on the other hand do not believe in equal marriage. Even though you have no legal argument to support it you will still vote against it.

Your analogy was nothing more than a veiled insult. You know dam well that rape is a violent crime and lacks consent. There is no legal support for rape. None and you know that. Your analogy is has no merit and you know it.

Your insults are just as prevalent as others, you may veil them and dress them up, but they are still insults.

If you read the COTUS and some of the Federal papers, you will find that they did just that in some cases.

This might come as a shock to you, but there are MANY people who hold various beliefs with which their origin has nothing to do with religion. Sorry to shock you. In your world are they not allowed to vote their beliefs either?

BTW, yes my insults were veiled, but YOU were the one that started down the insult road by calling me ignorant.

We are not talking about other beliefs, we are talking about this belief in this thread. And here you go again intentionally lying by putting words in my mouth which I never said.

What I said is I would like to see religion banned but since there is no legal argument to support such a belief I would never vote to support any restriction on a persons rights to practice religion or to base their decisions on their beliefs. What I have said and I will say again is that I believe is it ignorant to base ones life and decisions on beliefs rather than on logic, science and law.

You are willing to deny a person rights based on your beliefs, I will not let my beliefs guide my decisions which could affect others.

Again, why would they want to interfere with somebody's life when it has nothing to do with you? And if they do so, why would they not expect hostility? If you want to say "can I"? Fine. Just because you can have sex with your sister doesn't mean you would want to or should.

Can you explain why the church, religious groups or whatever it is you want to call them interfere in people's lives? Yes, I remember MSFOWLER saying "Well it isn't that bad considering...." but I am still at a loss to understand why it is the religious want to meddle in someone's life that isn't one of their indoctrinated. You want to tell your followers to bark at the moon every Wed night at midnight? Go for it. Don't make me have to be up to do that or have to be woken up. Surely you can understand that. Feel free to explain the Blue Laws if you can.

I guess I was asleep when I wrote it. WHEN have I EVER promoted blue laws?

I know LOTS of people who never darken the doors of a Church, but they are against abortion and gay rights. WHY is it that you think only people who attend Church have that view?

In fact YOU are an example of someone who I view as having solid morality and conservative fiscal views and from what I've read, I think it's been awhile since you worried about crawling out of bed on a Sunday morning early enough to make it to Church.

That is an example of church interference in the lives of others when it has no bearing on them. There are more including the Witch burnings and what not via our friend Tomas de Torquemada for example.

First off, we are talking about the church meddling. Secondly, as long as these people don't take steps to meddle with my life and confine it to their own, I have no problem.

Not true. I do go from time to time at the nagging of my parents just to keep them happy but it is worthless to me. And the service is at 1100 hrs which means I don't have to crawl out of bed but am already up.

Davidmash, I had this discussion with Ground Loop about a month ago. He couldn't make up his mind then either.

What is the opposite of blatantly? Is there some non-blatant way to call someone a liar, and if there is, isn't that sort of cowardly? Seems to me like if you're going to call somebody a liar call him a liar. Would that be blatantly calling him a liar or not? I'm so confused.
