Do We Hear About All Member Losses?
You know, TBO's thread about Phil brings to mind something that has been discussed once or twice in the last almost 13 years I've been posting on this forum:
It would be interesting to know what members might have dropped off of the forum due to such a situation and no one ever knew it. For the more frequent posters, we have learned of a few because they develop friendships with other members who let us know such things. For many of us, if we passed on tonight, there would just be no more posts and no one would ever know the difference. Phil touched most all of us, so I'm glad we at least know about it so we can pay our respects in various ways.

I sometimes wonder what happened to Carleton Hughes.

Yes, that's a name I had forgotten about.

Carlton Hughes
The one and only....
I sure hope he's doing well... Not ME, I won't forget him - he is probably the funniest wordsmith this place ever saw. "Marriage is like a funeral where you get to see and smell your own flowers: <--------- ect. & so forth ![]() His story about the day he drove to the Toyota dealer in his 1912 Stearns-Knight and asked to look at NEW Prius's was truly EPIC.

Yeah, but you wouldn't know what happened to me. Was it a bullet from another forum member or the mushrooms my wife picked out of the yard and fed to me?

Sadly, you're correct. If a family member isn't tuned into the relationship between the forum and the member, many times the info is never provided.

Yes, I couldn't remember the name. JCE and his lovely wife were two of the others at the dinner in SoCal that Phil missed.
The long time frequent poster who was a Border Patrol Agent was also at that dinner and I'll be darned if I can remember his name. He used to come through Texas once a year going to Law Enforcement competition somewhere in the Deep South. I almost always met up with him for a meal as he was quickly cruising through the area. I'm ashamed that I can't remember his name.

Thanks Kuan! That was in the days when more of us used our real names as monikers on the Forum.

Mike Tangas is the only person I know that has actually 'worn out' a pistol.
Larry, he was heading to a DPS competition shoot when he came to Texas those times. The last time we hooked up was in 2005, right after we bought the farm. He was headed to College Station from Austin and dropped in for a minute...IIRC, he needed to 'borrow' some paint thinner. His 'company car' had gotten tagged in the parking lot of the motel where he was staying the prior night.
