Vila sez it would cost more for them to rebuild the head than it would to get a remanufactured one from a rebuilder. Seats were recessed pretty far and all the tappets worn.
I'm on the quest for a reputable head outfit.

I can't imagine how to find him, or if he's even still in business, but there was a really good one in Dallas. He welded up a corrosion problem on my 300E head and that was about 150,000 miles ago. He came highly recommended for salvaging challenged heads(maybe we should send him to Washington.)
I will try to find him. I think I would remember his name if I saw it in the yellow pages. I didn't see anything that looked familiar. His contact information is buried somewhere deep in the archives of this forum from circa mid 2000, but I wouldn't know where to start searching to find it. Back in the days of paper Yellow Pages, there were several large exchange head places in Dallas that had large ads and good reputations. Sorry, I can't help any further than this.
