Mod question about BB
 

Serious question, not trying to start a fight.

Why does it take so long to ban him each time he shows up? I understand that perhaps the IP has changed but his posts are all the same. It seems fairly obvious who he is so why is he not banned at that point? Perhaps further encouragement for him to stay away would be to delete his post as well since recognition seems to be a factor in his obsession with this site.

Seems to me if we have a TOU and I am held accountable for my actions then he should be as well other wise just dump the TOU and we can all have at it (I would prefer no to see a free for all).

Again, I'm not trying to start a fight just want to know why he is allowed to post for so long.

I would make the conclusion that nobody has hit the button as of yet. BB has actually done well in his last reincarnation. Maybe he's a changed man?:D

His contributions in DD are simply unmatched by anyone else on the site.

Why would you assume such? Because someone posts current rules it indicates to you that they endorse such rules? If I post that current law says homosexual sex by consenting adults is a felony am I advocating no one ever have homosexual contact? Are you really that ******?

There is only one reason Billybob was banned. During the brian carlton regime as moderator, BC couldn't handle having someone on the forum who was not only obviously more intelligent, but had the cerebral capacity and spare time to prove it over and over again! If Billybob had joined under the way less egotistical Mods currently serving in their thankless job I have no doubt he would be sharing his vast knowledge of MB's, as well as his scathing social commentary, on a daily basis. It is sad when someone is silenced, whether you agree with them or not, because it means you could be next.

Oh, BTW, the forum search function is not your friend. It indicates that the "brian carlton regime" ended in 2010, and your hero's last recorded babble before his permanent ban was October 15, 2011.

Why, then, don't the current round of ego-free mods allow him back on the forum? With Skid Row Joe's revival, there is certainly precedent for such an action. I think that you know the answer.

BC didn't ban Billybob. In fact, BC gave him far more latitude than just about anyone else on here specifically because he's a very valuable contributor to DD. Of course, you wouldn't know that because you don't participate in any technical forums.........you simply show up here to cast stones at my moderation from three years ago.

The current moderation team decided that he's on permanent ban, so, maybe you ought to go and ream Tyler a new one if you simply can't keep your mouth shut and have to come on here periodically and make a fool out of yourself..

Personally I have never had an issue with any of BB's postings but keep in mind I have thick skin. As already stated he is a very knowledgeable contributor on the technical side. From what I can tell he just does not flower up his language like some ppl like to have it flowered up.

With that said I think SRJ is a very knowledgeable contributor in regards to the financial stuff. Again, some folks just can't take his prose where he has not flowered it up.

Let's all be thankful everyone on here does not think alike and is exactly alike. It would be a very boring place.

You don't have to "flower up" your language to be polite. it does take some effort though especially when you are interacting with people you disagree with or don't particularly care for.

In many cases for me, if a person can't behave in a civilized manner, then they can take their knowledge and cram it. life is too short, and there are other resources.

I think it'd be fun to let BB come back in under his own name and then take side bets on how long he lasts.

If Billybob would have taken his initial short term ban and not set up another account he would have been back here long ago. Now he's done it 10 times maybe.

His flagrant disregard of us and the rules is what has earned him a permaban; his posts and fresh accounts are deleted as spam.

Would monitoring the duration require a calendar or a wristwatch?
