Cars that you once didn't like but like now

Starting this in contrast to the http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/open-discussion/342359-cars-you-once-liked-but-dont-now.html thread. What cars did you once dislike but now enjoy? For me, I used to assume that the old 'Benzes had the same reliability problems that Consumer Reports said the new ones have, and so I was not a fan until I happened to read something on the W124 where I saw it said that the cars are very long-lasting. I also used to have an aversion for GM products in general, but have really come to like the Buick.

Ferraris. I used to think they were expensive toys, fragile and silly. Now I think they are expensive toys but rugged and amazingly sporty.

another one for me is the 126 chassis. Wasn't a fan early on, especially not of the hind end, which looks like a cheap apartment block to me, but lately ive been thinking that if anything happens to my 240, I might look at the bigger 126 road cruiser as a replacement that still has my favorite engine in the 617.

plus there are a lot of the things on craigslist.

I really like the front end on the 126, the steering and suspension I mean. Just feels right.

When I drove for Yellow cab of SF briefly in the late 90s, I drove a few Crown Vics with less than 10K miles. Yellow SF is the only cab co. I know of that buys new cars. The Crown Vics of that era are surprisingly responsive cars. If I had 4 kids, might be an attractive car, at the right price anyway.

I have always thought the 126 is a very handsome design, especially the coupe. The 190 is spot on too but the 124 sedan's rear roofline is just a bit awkward.

The W123 version of the 300D.

I grew up with an anti-German car bias because my automotive mentor, who was brilliant by the way, had that same bias. I think it had something to do with some German guys bombing his hometown just outside London in his younger days. He liked the pre-war BMW 328, but hated just about anything else that was German. It wasn't until many years later that I discovered the beauty of the OM617 motor.

A gorgeous '65 hardtop Malibu came into work the other day. The owner & I talked for quite some time. Brought back a shipload of memories of hotrods from high school days.

This guy had a big block 550 cu in boat motor, hydromatic 400, an overdrive unit from a Winnebego after the trans, heavy duty rear, (Dana?), 4 wheel disc brakes, and a few other goodies. Painted deep Navy Blue, & looked basically stock except the hood scoop.

Man, would I love to drive this one an empty strip of highway for a few miles!

The 1976 Dodge Aspen 4 door sedan. This was one of the vehicles that I drove in high school and, at the time, I despised the over-assisted power steering, nautical suspension tuning, and underachieving 318. Today? Well, as I advance at a frenetic pace towards my dotage, maybe that plushy ride and easy power steering wasn't so bad after all.
