AR build...
I have a couple AR lowers I'm eying to grab before the gun grabbers take them from me!
Anyway Saturday I might end up with one and need some ideas on an awesome AR build! I'm thinking about a Geissele match trigger, Magpul grip, CTR stock, Magpul Enhanced trigger guard for gloved operation, etc. I'm not doing any ambi features because I'm right handed. So that's the lower, what should I do for an upper? A1 or A3? LMT? Maybe an LWRC piston? I'm really not sure, thinking maybe an 18in barrel right now with a quad and all tricked out tacitcool with an Aimpoint M4, Surefire light etc. Or I can go the other way with an A1 upper 20in barrel, A2 stock, basically the Vietnam era special. Who makes the best bomb proof bolt group? |
buddy of mine was talking about buying a bunch of AR lowers before they put the ban on em.might not be a bad idea.

In CT pre ban lowers are worth about $900 and that just allows us to own what the rest of the country can get.
Before the current ones become pre ban I want to grab one because I want an AR and can't get one. Stag is back ordered until 2014! So I'll just sit on the lower until all this nonsense dies down than buy the parts. |
Get an EOTech 512 for it. Best sight out that you can buy yourself.

I just took one in trade for money owed I intend to flip. I have a buyer for it at 1800. Specs as follows. I'm told by those who know it's a pretty sweet rig. Beats me, I don't like tacticool stuff.

Build your first one to specs. It's amazing how good they can be. Do some research and find a quality kit. Learn it inside and out before you modify it.
Buy the armourer's guide and the barrel tool. Bushmaster had some good parts and tools years ago. Some of the Colt parts are a little different but you probably won't see those anyway. I haven't built one for 15 years but it's easy if you take the time to learn as you go. Look at how it works and make sure springs don't bind, etc. I recently thought about buying some lowers and didn't. Receivers were well under a hundred bucks before TSHTF. Read about barrel twist and bullet weight. Wouldn't hurt to have some stripper clips, magazines and ammo even if you don't find a deal on parts. The gun outlasts the gunner. |
Connecticut; the land of Colt firearms now on the firearms "witch hunt".

I've used a number of their parts over the years to build different ARs for family members. It's also the same company that I interviewed with in July of last year. If my health was better, I'd be living in near Savannah, GA at the end of January. |

I have an original virgin AR-15 match with long barrel and original rare Colt adjustable trigger which was later discontinued. It has 50 rounds through it. Got it for a debt owed. Anyone interested? It will go for the right offer. |

Seems like it would be an easy sale right now but it's not a transaction I would look forward to. Probably a real easy trade if you are looking to acquire anything.

They really aren't good for much. Isn't the average lifespan of a rifleman in a firefight measured in seconds or minutes?
