Ha ha, yeah she was something. Quite a beauty even as an older woman when I knew her.

I never saw this picture while she was alive (she passed away in 1986 at 85 years old) so I know nothing of the story behind it. Matter of fact never saw it until after my Dad passed in 2007. Looks like her and a friend are heading out on a road trip with suitcases in the back. Quite an adventure for 2 gals back in the day. I do know the location is my home town of Charleston WV.

Found this photo in a storage unit of my Dads along with a bunch of others. Some from 1919 or so of my Grandfather and his Indian motorcycle when he and a couple of buddies went on a road trip through Ohio and Indiana. Cool stuff.

Been searching the web for photos and at first glance it seems the Chevrolet Tourer Superior is a good candidate. The rear window is rectangular and the space between front and rear doors looks similar (maybe). But there's something about the wheel wells that doesn't look quite the same. The edge of the fenders in my photo have a lip and the other photos show a rolled edge to the fenders. There's something different about the arc of the front fender too.

The detail on the top of the door is unique to me. (right under her arm). I suggest it may be an obscure make....like overland or such. There used to be hundreds of cars made at that time.

This is one pic I saw that really made me think it is the one. But I'm not sure. The base of the windshield on this one is straight where the one we are looking at is curved. Buit at least this does have the integrated cowl lights. I see many variations that I wonder if there were changes made during production or for different models. But this one is definitely close. the body lines are spot on. I think this one may be a bit smaller model.

What is that?

The cowl lights look to be the same, and what we can see of the radiator shell looks the same; even the curve of the rear door.

The photo you posted also has rear brakes only just like the car in the old photo.

I can't place it. To my eyes, it is MUCH larger than a Dodge, or Chevy of that era. The detail of the wheel opening lips is unique, and may help. Chevys of that era all had vertical windshields--the one in the OP is slanted. Dodges in the mid 20s had rear suicide doors so the handles for the doors would be closer together.
How about 23/24 Franklin all weather touring? fender lip looks right, but I don't have a picture from that angle or one that clearly shows the hood louvers.

I'd say this is the best match yet. What is that exact model?

Buick of the period used the same or simular cowl lights and the back of the headlights were in front of the rad. Still unless it is a series model I have no record of and the hood louver count is wrong as well so I think it is not buick.

It does not seem to be a cheapie model judging from it's size no matter what it was.. I am not sure when front brakes became standard either and see none present. I have some difficulty on brand identification of that cars era. Still I think someone on site will nail it.

As I had reported a few posts earlier, the pic I posted is a 1923-24 Studebaker. I agree that the windshield is different, even though the Studebaker has the integrated cowl lights. Very hard to find one with integrated cowl lights. The body lines look close. In the old pic we are going off of you can't see the headlights, meaning they must be mounted very low.

Here's a 1925 Studebaker and it has a curved bottom to the windshield.

Right but no integrated cowl lights, the ones on this are in pods.
