A Very famous engine

Okay some of you racing buffs out there - what's this here engine? I came across it at the weekend and happened to have the camera handy!

Close.. The engine was used in that, but was originally developed for motorsport by a British engineering company, and has been used in many cars over many years.

I refrain from giving away the other hint for now, it'll make it too easy!

It sure is! A Cosworth-DFV V8, engineered by the same company, of course, that worked on the 190E 2.3/2.5 - 16.

A tasty lump isn't it? It's not even very big. Maybe I can fit one into the front of my 190E... 450 bhp would make me very happy
