Identify another old car?

I have attached a image of another old car.
This one dates from around the turn of ( the last) century.
It appears to be similar to 1 picture I have of a 1904 Buffalo Electric, except that the candidate car looks to be gas powered. Buffalo did put some gas engines in some cars but I have no pictures.
Here is what I see that are unusual details that may help:
45 degree toeboard---most cars of the era had a vertical dash
tiller steering--makes it early
longitudinal springing-- car is also similar to some early Dureyas except they used transverse springs.
Front and rear passengers on the same level---it was usual for rear seat to be higher.
Looks like a radiator under the rear seat.
Wheels are wood and smaller diameter--not tall as on many other early cars
Looks like a sprocket on both rear wheels.

From the surrounding pictures on the roll, it may have been part of a circus parade--probably the circus from the poster. Can anyone figure the year? That would be good information.

OK detectives--have at it!

Working on the circus angle, the only "Carl" I can find from early 20th century is:

1906 Carl Hagenbeck (50 cars) (Clipper Apr 7, 14 1906)
but there are multiple years, even if it is the right "Carl"

from here:

Circuses 1900-1910

any other ideas?

Pre-1903 as most everyone had converted to the steering wheel by then.

I wonder if the curled hook on the front was an option? It would come in handy when being pulled out of the mud.

The lack of a front panel shows that this was a city car with no protection from the elements or passing wagons that would throw mud up on to you. This would make me think electric, but it also looks to have a radiator running down the side.

And the wagon maker background is there in the big hubs.

As i noted above, there are similarities to the Buffalo Electric, and I know they did put some gas engines in some vehicles, but I have no pictures of gas powered Buffalo cars. As to whether the hook was an option--I don't even know the manufacturer let alone their option list! I thought that might have been to hold a step plate, but the details are lacking.

No info on the car, but earlier I noted that there was no 'splash' protection in the front.

At this time the well to do drove a Carriage and the working man drove a wagon, but for those with the money to buy an all purpose cart they drove what was called a 'Dogwagon'. Dogwagons were bad about throwing mud as they had enough leverage in their wheels to pick up mud and fling it about if there was mud to fling. They had seats, so passengers just wore those big overcoats to keep the mud off of them.

Carl Benz first car had no splash protection, but by 1901 Benz's all had them. Almost everybody did because autos were becoming powerful enough to take on the trails that passed for roads and this exposed the driver to even more chances to meet up with a Dogwagon.

I wonder if this was the source of the term 'Dog' for a slow and worn out auto?

Could be the George Barris of the 1900's. A 45* toeboard was probably rad back then!
