I have never cared what goes on in Venezuela.

But, I thought that the comment about Him being “Anti American” was kind of funny. I mean if He was a Patriot of His own Country that would automatically sort of Anti American.

Sort of the same about Him stealing Private Property. If He changed the Law it became Legal for Him to Nationalize that Private Property.

It's amazing the lies that can be stated on TV by 'experts' when it comes to Venezuala. Watched a local International Studies professor call it a dictatorship just a few minutes ago.

What exactly made it a democracy? Corrupt elections that were repeated until the "right candidate" won? Imprisoning those whose philosophies differed?

Perhaps on paper it was a form of "democracy," but in function it was a dictatorship: what Hugo wanted, Hugo got. A.d what others wanted, Hugo got.

When I saw the thread title I quickly assumed that Chavez must have gone hunting with Dick Cheney.

We'll see how much the people really liked Chavez during the upcoming mandatory election. If they really followed him and loved him, then the VP will win. If they didn't really like him, then the other will be the victor.

Things look like they will be interesting.

Yeah, that's a perfect example of leadership -- give the people what they want from a big stage.

The majority of Venezuelans were ardent supporters of Chavez. The huge majority of Venezuelans had been screwed-over by an hereditary oligarchy for 200 years. Chavez was for them, a great relief. Not unlike Huey Long for the majority of people in Louisiana.

Anyone who makes nasty speeches about this country and screws with our oil supply is a bad, bad person and should die.

Yes, it is most definitely a very special corner, created for only him and a few others.

I don't say something this strong because he said nasty things about the US. That never bothered me. The hell that he put his very own people through, is what will earn him that special corner.

Yes, Huey Long was another bad man, that did SOME good things. He wasn't a bad man in the same class as Chavez though.

How much do you know about Huey Long? It makes no difference whatsoever what country they were from. Huey Long is not even in the same ball park as Chavez.
