Lost?

I just don't know what to say.

40 student, staff hikers safe after getting lost in Ky. wilds

My goodness. For several whole hours? And with only a cell phone to guide the rescuers to them? In the dark? Ohh, the horrors and trauma those 37 students must have endured! Sheesh!

I never get lost !! There is always some one on here to tell me where to go !!
Its not as though they were young children, it was a group of University students with staff members as well. They had several cell phones. Probably the whole thing was played out on Face Book !!

Wow, talk about stupid. They should have built a signal fire instead of using cell phones.

Perhaps they happened across a still sight that had a few quarts of KY's finest corn licker...The last time I had a few swallers of that stuff, I got lost on my front porch!

The neighbor found me a few hours later, naked, sweating heavily, and covered in my own excrement. I was rambling about something involving his daughter, a goat, and an aviation flare.

" They were on a five-mile trail shaped like a lollipop..."

Fricken pansies couldn't even find their way back on a trail that is essentially a one way....

Sounds like they were the types who couldn't read a map let alone have any natural sense of direction....All they had to do was go as the crow flies and head back the way they came from trail or not!

They all had cell signals yet none of them could find North....brilliant

No compass built into my iPhone.....

Took forever to find a decent compass app.

When hiking with my kids, I have them use a real compass anyway.
They show me where we are starting on the map, figure out what direction we are heading, take periodic looks at the compass....

Bet my 10yo could have gotten that group of losers home safe.

One of them was admitted to the hospital...???

WTF is wrong with people?

In the scouts, our scout masters would routinely get 'lost' on hikes.
It was up to us scouts to figure out where we were and where we were supposed to be going.
It get's real motivating when you are carrying all your stuff on your back, and you still need to set up camp before dark.
