I really like Grand Caymen. Its like a rich version of FL that's more tropical and with no trailers.

I'd spend winter down their in a heartbeat.

Also from Grand Caymen its only a short airplane hop or boat ride to Cuba.

That's one of the funniest Chris Farley skits on SNL I've ever seen. I heard he based that character on a real high school football coach.

Huntsville, AL

Okay....since you asked specifically about it.....I'll give you my 2 cents worth.

NOT! Looking at Google Maps, I'd say Huntsville, AL is very close to the same latitude as Memphis, TN. After living in this area for 11 years, I would not recommend it if you are trying to escape cold. Granted, we don't have the cold that you receive up in Michigan, but we are far from sub tropical, too. You aren't going to be wrenching in shorts nor even long pants and a short sleeve shirt.

I really think you will want to live further south.

BTW ----- did you ever say which 2 months you are looking at? January & February??

Come to FL. I lived in Davenport, 30 minutes from Lakeland and it wasn't bad. Polk county is rather "country".

I now live in Windermere which I prefer over poke county.

If the two of you restore a couple of those french c2vs or whatever their designation is the price of elastic bands will rise for the rest of us.

Although in it's time it was a good ideal to use them as the bottom and backs of the seats. I only rode in one once and it was pretty new.

Once you start going to central OR southern Florida in the wintertime, it's easy to get addicted to going back, IMO.

Just "2 months" you mentioned may not be enough of the winter - but if you have obligations to return to Michigan, that's understandable.

I really enjoyed my time down there during the wintertime that I've travelled it on business and pleasure.

Well, I might buy a property in Florida, but would like something where nI could wrench too.

The ideal would be a building near or in a town
with the second floor as a place to live and the first floor as a place to wrench, like a 30 x 30 or larger building with a second floor for habitation.

So start looking guys.

I drove one all over europe in the early 70's. Got cut off outside of Paris and drove it into a light pole and skee-daddled with our backpacks. Thank goodness we wrecked it OUTside of Pair-ee. We'd a been kilt for sure had we driven any further into that black hole.

France and Morroco are interesting alternatives. I don't know how safe Morroco is at present.
