I suppose it all depends on what your goal is. If you intend to live till medical science can no longer support you, that is one thing. OTOH, if you want to live your life on your terms and do what you want and die whenever, that is another. Most of us live somewhere in-between those lines.

IMO, a target date is meaningless. Saying "I want to live to X years" is worthless because you are not in control. Even if it is not your heart, something else can give out or you can simply fall down and die of a broken neck, a semi can hit you, etc, etc.

Best thing you can do, IMO, is to live your life to the fullest with an eye to the future. Try to prevent some problems but don't do it and make yourself miserable in the process. Does it benefit you if you live to 100 but spend your last 30 years in a nursing home or having to be forced to accept help from others? I think not. If given a choice, I'd rather die at 70 and independent than 100, slowly wasting away to little more than a "talking head".

Idealism like that is within your grasp. Actually doing it is another story.

In my family, car accidents and MS. If you're one of the DNA-proned NOT to come down w/MS, the car-wreck is in the future.

I've already survived one HO car-wreck...so that means....
