When Gore was running against Bush in 2000 Ralph Nader was also running. Nader was in this thing to win and was going all out. Michael Moore appealed to Nader to drop out and told him that all he was going to do was secure a Bush win.

Nader rejected this and declared that he would be the next President.

Nader received 2.74% of the vote total, and four others running all received less than one-half of one percent. The other four took votes from Bush, but Nader took all of his votes from Gore.

All in all, Gore would have received about 1% more votes than Bush if none of the others were in the race, so yes, more political parties can make a difference.

And I think anyone can look at the races Bill Clinton ran and conclude that he won because Ross Perot snagged a lot of Republican votes.

Actually that's a good sign, it means the country is doing well.

Mind you, I dont have an issue with the above. It is what it is.

I DO have an issue when ignorant people try to blow things out of proportion when they are WELL within the norm and not an exception by any means because they read one story and dont bother to fact check first.

Get educated!
Here's an idea for you... How about holding BOTH of these numb nutted Presidents accountable for blowing through the money of the American taxpayer like there's no tomorrow. BOTH Bush and Obama have been BAD for the US and BAD about spending money like a couple of spoiled teenage girls with a credit card.

I'd say Nader was well paid to be in the race by the right. ...whether he knew it or not.

Actually, I don't know because in some Governments they have so many Parties that they have a good deal more trouble than our Government does in moving forward on Legislation; they can't easily put together a majority.
Whereas with our system, which ever side has majority rams their agenda down the others throat.... yes.. much better.

I would like to see more than 2 or even 3 parties, so there would have to be meaningful compromise in order to pass legislation.
If nothing gets passed.... that might not be a bad thing...
