This reminds me of the 2 short weeks we had bagged milk at school. Apparently none of the administrators saw the similarities between water balloons and bagged milk while reviewing their cost savings

I remember those!

We had them for a full year and had to watch a training video before we were allowed to be served them.

I don't remember them being thrown at all, and I remember the plastic was decently thick. However, I do remember all the stupid kids putting the straw through both sides...

Kitchen staff were ordered to cook rectangular or square snacks instead after a pupil was hit in the face by a flying oaty morsel.
Last I checked, squares and rectangles had more corners than triangles.

I did say it was silly!

{But think of it the other way round - some upset parent trying to claim damages against the school because little Johnny got a too sharp cornered flapjack in his eye during a food fight...

...litigation or the threat of will set us free...}

Or, more truthfully,

GREED and the desire for that big payday at someone else's expense....

I'm always a bit gratified to find that the US hasn't cornered the market on rules and regulations designed to protect us from ourselves.

As an aside, I grew up hearing the words flapjacks, hotcakes and pancakes used interchangeably, but I see that at least as to flapjacks, that's not the case. For those in the know, what are they like?

Reminds me of the "Two-and-a-Half Men" episode where Alan suffers an eye injury as a result of a slice of toast toseed errantly in his direction by Jake!

They have a reputation for being a bit like sawdust muesli - stingy hippy ***** food; done well they are quite nice though in a comfort food 1950s kind of a way - don't expect any wow factor...

...but apparently they are bloody lethal in the hands of a ninja wanna be school boy...

When I was in Jr. High, a kid a year above me was seriously obese as was his sister, a year under me. Their parents apparently had a hefty income and lavished all manner of spendy toys on them - motorcycles, cars, etc. Kid had a Mustang with a 390 while he still had his learner's permit (15 y.o. in NM at the time).

I forget the details but they were highly litigious regarding any sort of discipline with their darlings at school. Ended up getting the principle fired. Both son and daughter were an arrogant handful.

Strange people in this world who think their children can do no harm. Slightly different from the OP topic but in the ballpark.

Have you ever googled them to see if their names turned up in a list of polished turds somewhere?

I just tried, including our hometown to narrow it down. The name is too common. No hits. Oh well. In NM at the time you could get a "scooter license" at age 13. Was supposed to be 5 hp or less. No one ever checked that. I eventually had a Suzuki 150 - 2 stroke twin, 16 hp, pretty fast for a kid's bike. The kid in question had a Yamaha 250 dirt bike (more road bike than today's dirt bikes), by far the fastest bike in our Jr. High scene where Honda 90 was a big deal.

I rode on the back of his bike once before I got mine. We went through some rough terrain, vacant lots, etc. and the kid was an adept rider - about scared the crap out of me - but he took a lot of risks. A wonder he didn't kill himself.

May be he did.
