Time To Downsize

Not my W123, but my Mazda.Wagon.
The most hotly anticipated small Mercedes-Benz model since the 190E 2.3 16v (at its time, it was considered a small car for the German brand), the new A45 AMG, has been exposed for the first time with scarcely any camouflage.

The CLA 45 AMG is as close as you'll get in the US for the near future . . . August

They've already announced/confirmed they're bringing the A class to the U.S.

Oh we will, they need to bring up their avg fleet fuel economy by 2016, so small cars and diesels and small gassers will be headed this way from MB as well as all the other makers.

On second thought, this might be cheaper.

Seriously, my Mazda6 is going on 8 years old with 230,000 kms on it. Nothing has broke on it all those years that I've owned it. Being retired we take a lot of vacations and am heading to Myrtle Beach in a few weeks and don't want any worries about breaking down.

Mercedes has gone to the marketing folks. The numbers now mean nothing (for example the newer 63 AMG series are really 5.5L). The CLA45 AMG is actually powered by a turbo 2.0 4 cylinder. Them, along with BMW and Inifinti are trying to do it to distinguish their brand but really they're just making it a lot more confusing.

It could be like BMW motorcycle nomenclature and have a 450cc engine.

A turbo 2.0L gasser that puts out about 355 bhp in an AWD lighter weight car.
