Fully Automatic Weapon used at Sandy Hook

I know it is true because our infinitely intelligent leader told us so. It's not as if he would ever misstate the facts to push an agenda.

I don't know if that slip was on purpose or not. However, given the semi-recent history of gaffes from the anti-gun crowd, I'm wondering if it's honest ignorance of the topic, or a concerted effort to drop lines here and there in speeches broadcast by the news medias to try keep those truly uneducated on the topic from actually knowing what the truth is. It was just the other day that a Representative from CO was confused enough to think that once the magazine was empty, that you just threw it away and grabbed another.

The only thing I know for sure about all of this is that the 2nd amendment is under attack more now than any time since the beginning of the Revolutionary war. I also know that the extreme rhetoric that's coming from DC in the guise of politics as normal is sickening and polluting everyone's minds...especially the public schools.

I don't know for sure whether or not it was intentional, but the result is the same. That is as you say, the attack on the 2nd Ammendment.

I was told that one of our legislators was quoted as saying that eventually people would use all of the large capacity magazines and then they would all be gone. That is why they want to outlaw them now.

We have incompetent, immoral people controlling the policy. Best government money can buy. Call your lobbyist.

He seems to have better things to do than deal with North Korea - like playing basketball, and making up stuff that sounds good to him.

From whitehouse.gov:

Quote:
Now, over the next couple of months, we’ve got a couple of issues: gun control. (Applause.) I just came from Denver, where the issue of gun violence is something that has haunted families for way too long, and it is possible for us to create common-sense gun safety measures that respect the traditions of gun ownership in this country and hunters and sportsmen, but also make sure that we don’t have another 20 children in a classroom gunned down by a semiautomatic weapon -- by a fully automatic weapon in that case, sadly.
(emphasis mine)

IMHO, anyone who cares about accuracy or clarity in any national debate about firearms - or who cares about the credibility of our President in such a debate - should wince when he reads the part I emphasized in the quote above. I do.

Well since we know that his mom had no fully automatic weapons and that is the only weapon source he had, it is safe to say that he had no access to fully automatic weapons.

Of course Tom you are free to start or buy into a conspiracy theory about it if you like.

I don't. They both kill, so what's the difference?

What the heck are you talking about? Conspiracy?

I just would like to know if there is new information or the Pres mis-spoke.

Me neither. I am offended by mis-statements but why this ridiculous concern about magazine capacities and categories of weapons?

"make sure that we don’t have another 20 children in a classroom gunned down by a semiautomatic weapon"

OK we will only gun down 20 children with revolvers

Or maybe suicide bomb

Or hell, simple diesel fuel and fertilizer sure makes one hell of a bang, as any farmer or Irishman is well aware.

The problem is obviously the killing of 20 children full stop. Why is anything related to means and methods being debated?

You mean a BAR or a .50 caliber machine gun? The BAR I'm familiar with is .30 06.

The BAR was a great tool during WWII. The biggest problem with it was its weight. The M14 would do anything the BAR would do and was much lighter. Both were difficult to keep on target in full auto mode.

There is NO new information. The pres clearly doesn't know the difference between a semi and full automatic, OR he was telling a fib to push his agenda and got caught in the lie. Nothing new.
