Unless you absolutely need that $5k to finish a project, then do it.

BTW $27k seems expensive for a work truck.. The Denali HD I was looking at was $60k!

I don't know anything about later model Chevy product series, but I got the impression from the OP that they were of the same product series or bodystyle is you put it, which is probably a more meaningful term.

I agree, I think it's a great idea to roll back the clock, so to speak and for $5k to do it, you should be good for at least 100k more miles without trouble.

I like the honesty and simplicity of a good work truck, low trim spec, rubber floor mats, and a regular cab.

I align with those here that say "Go for it".

The dealer is going to put this truck on their lot for $14900 but trade in is only around $11k, since I do business with him and he doesn't want to deal with a private sale I can buy it for trade in.

My current truck is in very good shape so I'll get a good buck for it fast.

I had to do a wheel bearing not to long ago, and I just notice that as these trucks approach 10 years and break 100k a lot of parts start to go bad. Its not that big of a deal, but I don't want to work on a vehicle at all. The 09 I can just change fluids on for the next 4 years and not worry about it.

I could drive my 05 for another 100k but I want a newer cleaner truck. His truck has no dents, mine has some, and a rusty bumper.

$27k will get me a loaded 2wd 8ft regular cab Silverado with the V8 and all the options, plus the $3,500 they take off now.

A fully loaded 4wd 1500 regular cab, 8ft bed with all the options is about $33kish.

Anything crew cab half ton with options is in the $40k range.

3/4 ton and up, especially with diesel and options is $50k+++
