That is in reality a shaper bit. With the turbo charged routers of today, it is feasible to use, but while mounted in a router table for use like a shaper.

Wire it up in series with a space heater or other resistive load to drop the speed.

Actually running an electric motor under load with reduced voltage IS often a bad idea. It can overheat.

Bleeping computer age intrudes on honest woodworkers. Every search for "router" (speaking of the computer age) is bombarded with all sorts of info about wireless routers, etc.

When you do the search type in:

router -ethernet -network


that should help narrow it down. The minus-then-word thingy filters any results with that word.
