He even stated his kingdom was not of this world. I don't think "theo-communist" would fit that. |

That book has been re-written and re-worded umteen times, by umteen churches in the last 2000 years. It is manipulated and changed at the will of mankind in the church, to influence people and governments to change their behaviors. How is the flying spaghetti monster's original message intact, when man keeps changing it around? Religion is mans requirement to explain what we don't understand. Uniformitarianism is the phrase that pays here. The present is the key to the past. We can't walk on water or make something out of nothing today. They couldn't back then, period. To argue back and forth about whether or not the flying spaghetti monster exists is truly a waste of time, internet connectivity and oxygen. We'll never agree about the color of this turd. |

I have no reason to delve into the specifics of how, but I do want to insist that it was God, God alone and not a natural "function" or process which created the earth and all species within. I am not a Christian Darwinist. |

Being a Roman Catholic, I am pretty sure that I and the 1.2 billion of us, give or take, consider ourselves Christians. Plus, Roman Catholicism is the oldest surviving organized Christian religion out there with the largest membership currently and throughout history. It is also one of the oldest survivng insitutions in western culture. From a strictly Roman Catholic perspective, as prescribed by the Church, Roman Catholiscm is the Only One, True Church. One true church - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Timeline of the Catholic Church - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia So, us Catholics share the same perspective that Martureo does relative to the primacy of his faith. After all, all Roman Catholics are Christians but not all Christians are Roman Catholics. Further, there is only One Church, and the remainder are denominations if one wants to pursue the argument. Personally, I really don't get that wrapped around the axle regarding the primacy issue. We are brothers and sisters in Christ. Those who feel compelled to make this a major issue, I suggest their best audience will most likely be in their own church. :) |

I don't remember the bible recommending threats, would jesus approve? but then again he didn't write the bible did he? the bible is a series of stories written sometimes hundreds of years after Jesus was alive, so what he actually said and did is not exactly clear is it? so what you would present as evidence demonstrating godliness is simply more documents written by followers after the fact, and if we are lucky, the 4 gospels were written by actual apostles within 50 years of jesus dying, or flying up into the sky depending on what you believe. I lost a close relative 10 years ago. If my life depended on it, I could not tell you a word for word conversation between us. What I would end up writing is what I thought happened, or what I would like to think happened. Ever notice how stories you tell and retell change form over time? By all accounts the apostles went forth and brought the doings of jesus to the masses. How many times do you think they made a polished speech before committing it to a gospel? How often do you think they made compromises to make a better presentation? |
