You forgot to capitalize The War On Christianity. What the heck is wrong with you? We have a battle flag and everything. Jeez.....

Well, there is always that. Simply discount whatever doesn't agree with your view.
OK.

I guess I can line you with larry in that camp huh?

You really are blind to the like 5 a day political threads he started for a long time? He reaps what he sews, stop feeling sorry for the guy, its totally ridiculous since the majority of the arguments he's involved in are started by his theads anyway. The classic strategy is post something inflammatory, then accuse people of attacking him when people respond to his first post.

Id say politics are pretty evenly divided on this forum, though I guess you like he see some advantage in claiming to be a minority. I guess its just like the war on christianity you believe is ongoing.

Wowza, you really take a lot for granted ...

How did you brew up one is feeling sorry for Larry? I'm not feeling sorry for him as there's no reason to. As for the "attacks" on Larry, you certainly used the word "enemy" ... that is how you characterized your views towards him and I am guessing your views are shared by many. Sure sounds that way. You don't like his views? So what? Is Larry supposed to temper his views to fall in line? Should I? Should Martureo? If so, all that drama you presented over a dialog vs. monolog seems a little shallow now. And yes, there is "war" on Christianity. It's a symbolic war of course, just like the war on terrorism, the war on poverty, the war on drugs, and so forth. The social progressive agenda has been kicked started again by the current administration and the jabs are being thrown. Pretty sure we'll weather the storm of course. Good always triumphs over evil the saying goes. Moral superiority? Is your enemy Larry claiming that too? Or me? Or even Martureo? We simply have different views towards the existence of God than you and others, and I was pretty clear on that. One of the major things I did see in Larry's posts was his frustration towards folks either mis-quoting or mistating his views. Personally, I don't care if you or others get it right or intentionally mistate them. But, I certainly see why he got cranky over it. I saw it on this thread with Martureo's comments, and now mine. In any event, I do see a pattern by the tight knit community. When the argument seems to not pan out like they think it should or hoped, the distractions are sure to come. This thread is a prime example. But, if the distractions work, why change a good thing?

No one "needs" to do anything. How ever if the two of them want to be taken seriously then need to stop behaving like petulant children.

What about the war on secular and all the non-Christian religions started by .. Who knows who and jump started by Bush? As I said earlier. We are tired.of the Christian BS That has been pointed on us for centuries. We are fighting back.

Okay.......

So you are prepared to go on record stating martureo did not reference the bible as factual evidence that jesus was god, and then did not later claim he never referred to the bible as fact? That's where he accused me of misrepresentation

Larry is fodder for one of his numerous threads, my low opinion of him is not based on his political or social opinions, but on his method of interaction and expression. That's been said by a dozen people in a hundred different threads as well, but I guess you missed that trend of thought

And, do you think by labeling their behavior as being like petulant children means what again? You don't like their views, so they are now children? silly? petulant? If anything, that's called a watered down ad hominem argument and worth about ... I am thinking the clever posts by ElChivito, for example, with his pictures mocking the Catholic priesthood, and a few others by the tight knit group for example herein tells the tale. However, since you appear to be in this tight knit group as well, I find the selective nature of your ad hominem approach a subtle, clever attempt at distraction. Kudos to you.

Should "The Tight Knit Group" be capitalized as well?

Man, your reputation just went down the tubes if you really trust the Jesus Seminar for anything.

Seriously, if you're going to take those methods of determination on this subject I don't know how you even call yourself a scholar. Gathering together a bunch of like minded people, regardless of most of them being experts in unrelated fields and have them vote on what they thought and calling that "scholarship" is just absurd.

I might as well have a bunch of musicians start voting on where the next S beam in a bridge project should go. Their results would be just as accurate and meaningful as the results of the Jesus Seminar.

Why aren't you going to men like Ehrman, Wallace, Warfield, Babara and Kurt Aland, Metzger, Mounce, etc? Who actually know the field better than almost anyone?

It's obvious when people with whom we disagree are behaving thus. It's harder to tell when it is we ourselves.

I look at the words and really try hard to avoid imagining what the writer is like in real life. To me, fantasizing about Internet friends, allies, and enemies is a fool's errand. Instead, look at the words. Study, analyze, and judge them. Respond to the words, not the person.

Trying to figure-out what Jesus was like, based on written word, is not unlike figuring-out somebody on the Internet, based on their postings.

The resultant model is wholly subjective, entirely unverifiable and faith-based.

No, you missed it again. I do not agree with your POV either but I do not view you in the same light as I view Marty and Larry. I believe they act like petulant children because of how they relate to people on this board. You can all it a pink elephant for all I care. You should look at some of the pictures that Larry posts but that might disrupt your little world. There are plenty on this board who I disagree with. Larry and Marty are in their own little world and I am certainly not alone ion that assessment.

I am pretty sure Marty would say that this is an ignorant statement given all the proof that there is in the universe.

Nope. I don't disagree with the statement as much as you think.

davidmash 06-29-2013 01:47 AM

So you haven't figured out what Jesus was like.

Then, that person can log back on and tell the world how wrong he or she was. That will most likely be the best part of this thread and all those posts led to another soul being saved.

You were doing OK until you went in this direction about saving souls. You see, people don't like being preached to, which is what we get from Larry and Paster M. In fact, Paster M. has little to say about anything except his favorite topic. Nothing of any real value in the car related forums either. And yes, I looked to see. Not one post about cars that anyone could say, '' Now that's something I could use. '' Makes me wonder why he's here because it sure doesn't look like he's any kind of a car nut.

I've only been here for a little while but it doesn't take that long to kind of figure things out. Who's left, who's right and who's moderate. People pick on one another a little bit but most of the really painful stuff is mostly self inflicted. Larry doesn't bother me that much, I see the same kind of narrow minded, doubble standard, conflicting, POV from just about every conservative I meet. Most of them never see how backwards they can be.
However, stay away from the two biggys, politics and religion, and most are just fine.

I don't see you in the arrogant ass category right now but rather someone who's getting slightly riled up and becoming defensive. Accept the explanations that have been given as to why some people get '' dog piled '' as being fact and leave well enough alone. These are big boys we are playing with and I'm pretty sure thery can care for themselves.
