So, I take it that your evidence of Martin's supposed racism is his use of the word "cracker" in his phone conversation that night. If you have additional evidence, let us know. If that is your evidence, then there would be no basis to suggest that he went around calling people crackers. To answer your question, though, a white guy who goes around calling people by the "n" word is probably a racist. I would not label a 17-year-old white boy who uses the term once as a racist.

Well, I guess you have made it clear that things go only one way in Honus world. That way is, of course, how YOU see it.

In my dealings with Honus (we did not always see eye to eye)..he never came across as someone who rammed his opinions down someones throat.

You are not calling it both ways. TM can call Z a cracker under particular circumstances and he's not racist, but Z uses the N word some time in his past, NOT related to the encounter, but he IS a racist.

Saying someone is or is not a racist is sort of a fools errand. All of us are capable of hanging with our tribe if conditions dictate. I sometimes think harsh words about people of other races. I suspect they do the same to me. I endeavor to be civil in public and virtually always succeed.

TM had reason to feel less than charitably toward GZ. GZ had less reason to feel that for TM.

I was unclear in my previous comment. What I attempted to say is that a 17-year-old white kid who uses the "n" word once is not necessarily a racist. Same for a 17-year-old black kid who says "cracker" once. A white person who uses the "n" word a lot and is old enough to know better is probably a racist. Same for a black person who says "cracker" a lot.

By the way, I was not aware that Zimmerman used the "n" word. That's unfortunate and he shouldn't do it, but I don't think it proves much.

This older black lady at a bbq joint in Compton (best in Los Angeles) called me a cracker when I didn't order fast enough: I thought it was the funniest thing that ever happened to me, I was laughing so hard. White people that get offended by black people calling them names should look in the mirror of history more often...
