Not a mac guy at all but the 27" display is fantastic. Apple definitely sources a good IPS panel. I bought a Korean noname 27" 2560x1440 monitor with the same LG IPS panel and couldn't be more pleased. Even out of the box the color accuracy and gamma setting is excellent.

I actually worked on a 27" iMac 11.3 over the weekend.
The hard drive failed after 600 days of life or so. It failed the short DST. I was able to boot up a Linux Live cd and copy off the owner's files to a network location. It was not a horrible machine to work on, mostly because I had the tools available but you had to use a suction cup to remove the plexiglass, then remove the LCD panel to gain access to the hard drive and other goodies. This particular machine came from a smoker's household/workplace. Nasty inside. Yellow gunk all over the aluminum and the fans were clogged up with nasty gooey dust.
