Looks like fun...

Adult Size Big Wheel

I remember tearing up the parking lot a my dad's construction business when I was a kid with one of these...just smaller.

oh man!

I did my first major childhood injury on one of those suckers, I want one.

those slick plastic rear wheels on the old ones, well they are skid machines. Nothing like flying down a hill and doing a sliding 180 as fast as possible, except when you roll it and slash your arm open.

OMFG I WANT ONE!

We used to have a whole fleet of them with lawn mower wheels in place of the worn out rear wheel from skidding around every corner. That's where I learned to e-brake skid! Most of the mower-tired ones were relegated to jumping or limo/"pickup" conversion (cut the seat in half and insert a 2-3' piece of 2x6) since they wouldn't skid anymore. I still remember the feeling of disappointment of seeing that first sign of separation of the sidewall from the "treads".

The Mad Maxx's and Green Machines were fun but not as much as the Big Wheel!

Oshkosh discontinued their adult line, but Dickies still makes them. I have a couple pairs in hickory stripe. Just to make my Carhartt wearing pals jealous.

I remember Gallagher, the sledge-o-matic comic, riding around on one on the stage a few decades ago...and being jealous as sin!

OMG IT A BGWEEEEL!

Pedaling so hard the handlebars would pop off. That and the Green Machine with the suicide steering and " lets stuff a kid under a parked car" seating position. Awesome.

I envied those with Green Machine...then I got one for Christmas one year. First thing I did was jam myself under mom's Cordoba. LOL Dad had to drag me out. My jeans got caught on a screw, but didn't rip...Gatorskins never ripped!

Swamp...we did the same thing with broken Big Wheels...dad cut a 2X12 to fit, then bolted it together...it could hold 4 kids. We had a blast with it.

When big wheels were the craze, I worked for the Postal Service. Worked night shift and of course tried to sleep during the day. The sound of those things sliding around could penetrate any wall. All my buddies at the P.O. (who worked with me) and I, wanted to go out some evening, collect all of them we could steal from the kids, and have a bonfire with them in the middle of the street-the bigger the better. I still hate the darn things. Don't know how much sleep I lost to them. I think ALL the kids had one.
