Military takes another step.....

..... in the right direction.

Quote:
“It is now the Department’s policy to treat all married military personnel equally,” Hagel wrote in the memorandum. Specifically, he added, “The Department will continue to recognize all marriages that are valid in the place of celebration,” which means that it is not necessary that the state or country where a service member is stationed recognize same-sex couples’ marriages in order for the Pentagon to recognize the marriage.

Because much of the country does not allow same-sex couples to marry, however, Hagel wrote, the Pentagon has decided to allow service members in same-sex relationships living in such places “non-chargeable leave for the purpose of traveling to a jurisdiction where such a marriage may occur.”

Equality? If it is equality, then why is it that gay military couples get 10 days leave when they are married and hetero couples do not? The gay couples are given SPECIAL treatment NOT equal treatment.

To what are you referring to?

Pentagon to extend benefits to same-sex military couples ? including 10 days of marriage leave - U.S. News

Quote:
In addition, the official said that service members who are stationed in one of the 37 states where same-sex marriage is illegal will be offered up to 10 days of leave so they can travel to one of the 13 states, plus the District of Columbia, that grant same-sex marriage licenses.
AFAIK, straight couples can get married in any state or any town. Had people like you not meddled in their affairs, it wouldn't be necessary, now would it?

Not sure about that. It is kinda like a cross between suspenders and bikini briefs. Pretty sure I wouldn't want either. Not interested in something rubbing up and down the crack of my ass. I just want enough material to stop me freeballing. So if it can meet both the criteria, I'm in.

At least that's what you call them when you ask for them at the store.

So it takes ten days to drive a few hundred miles? This is preferential, in your face, discrimination against normal couples.

When wrong is right and right is wrong........

On the extending of benefits to all married military couples: It's about time.

As for the non-chargeable leave: Active duty types get 30 days leave per year. Why can't they just use some of that? 30 days is a lot. I was active duty for two years and only used 17 days. The rest went to terminal leave when I got out.
