The NRA has collected a secret gun registry
http://westernshootingjournal.com/industrynews/nra-compiled-secret-gun-registry/
The NRA has collected a secret gun registry -type database on tens of millions of American gun owners, without their knowledge or consent, according to Buzzfeed. This information was leaked by a former NRA Lobbyist. Ironic because the NRA historically has preached and campaigned against the threat of a national database of firearms and the gun owners. But, in fact NRA themselves housed over 10 million information on gun owners. This compilation didn’t happen overnight, but through years of efforts of obtaining lists on gun permits registration from state and county offices nationwide. The lists |
Ha! What they gonna do, steal all our guns so we have to buy new?;)
|
They're gonna help Obammie steal our guns! Turncoats!
|
They're raising a private zombie army and need to be inconspicuous, so they need to know where to steal guns from.
|
Well as long as it's the NRA compiling the list, we can rest safely. After all, its not like the NRA is actively involved in partisan politics, right?
|
It's OK, it's the NRA. I'm sure they have a perfectly good reason for it.

Likewise, the only thing that stops a bad gubberment with a gun registry is a good lobbyist with a gun registry. |

The link in the OP is not working for me.

Yup. It's a 404
NRA prolly threatened to pull their funding.... |
A quick search found nothing but blogs reporting the story...so that means it's not a story.
Seriously, folks...don't post crap like this unless it's a real story. Weblogs aren't news reporters, they are trash talkers. Hell...to think that I would have actually given credit if it was at least MSNBC... |
I had to do a separate search for it. Not sure about the credibility of the source - but then again, who can say any of the media is credible.
How The NRA Built A Massive Secret Database Of Gun Owners |
In all seriousness, the story wouldn't surprise me. NRA is first and foremost a political lobbying organization -- no reason why it wouldn't collect names and addresses of potential members to convince them to support the cause.
Just Marketing 101, no creepier than Greenpeace or your local politico running for mayor -- ever get leaflets in the mail or cold calls from those people? |
I see. Not so much a database of gun owners as of people with a demonstrated interest in guns who might be willing to support or join NRA and at whom marketing efforts can be directed.
