I suspect that's exactly right. I led e-mail scammers on a few times. Got the fake money orders in the mail. Listened to them start to get anxious and nasty in e-mails when they thought they about had me. It got old. Wasting my time on slime.

I like to tell them about the Watch Tower or the Book Of Mormon. It's rather funny just how fast they try to get off the phone...

PS Did your 300E sell yet, looks like a well cared for machine?
Its not worth my time. 95% of the time its a 18 year old kid who couldn't find a better job and hates working for the company.

The 300E didn't sell yet, I'm probably going to end up just throwing it on craigslist and dealing with it.

I got a call yesterday from a firm saying that my 2013 Nissan Altima (which only has 1300 miles btw) warranty has expired and I need to buy it from them. I asked them for a joint of their stuff - which they didnt like to answer.

When I was young I vented at telemarketers occasionally. At some point I realized they are just trying to make a meager living. After that realization, when they call and say “can i talk to ...?” I said hang on and I’ll check. And then they went on hold never to be taken off. Few wait more than a minute or 2 minutes before hanging up. Occasionally the hold light will blink for half an hour.

I like the one from the fake collections agent who wants part of the 3,000.00 that my father, who has been dead 8 years, incurred six months ago.

I have had so many cons call me that now I no longer answer any calls where people don't identify themselves and leave a name.

We also got these calls on a daily basis. We switched to Phone Power (a VOIP company). We kept our same number and saved money. They have a "Block Call List" feature which will either send the blocked calls to voice mail or get a busy signal, which ever I choose. It blocks these call so well that we don't even know they called. Love it. There are cheaper VOIP companies out there but some don't have the features I like.

You're lucky that they're polite enough to use the same caller ID # consistently. Mine sometimes call from nonexistent gibberish numbers like 035-146-3563, "unknown number", or something like 212-554-xxxx, where xxxx is a random string of digits that changes per call.

My other method of dealing with them is steadily making a low whistle into the phone till they hang up. Generally doesn't take more than 5-10 sec. No more than one lung-capacity, anyway...
