Medicare suppliment

I am turning 65 in December. I am getting all kinds of contact from insurance comanies all vying for my suppliment policy.

What is everybody here using for it and what does it cost?

I specifically am interested in the AARP policy.

T,

Can you be or are you covered on your wife's teachers HC policy? Or does she no longer work?

United probably has the most popular plan in numbers, b/c of their AARP tie-in.A woman in a Doc's office told me last year that's what she used. I am still in our small professional group plan, so for me Med B is primary, BC/BS is secondary.
When I got to 65 I enrolled in Med A only. Only later, when our firm split up did I enroll in Part B

If you take Meds, you have a few more considerations to deal with.

Good Luck.

MTI.... not a question of if merely (and hopefully) when.

I am covered by my wife's school policy until Jan. 1 2014, then I'm planning to go on medicare and she will buy the single plan from the school corp.

I don't currently take any prescription meds, just some suppliments and vitamins.

Friend of mine down the street took one of the supplement plans which had no charge at all. Seems bizarre to me but apparently there are a number of companies which want your business and charge nothing.

I might some friends for lunch who are retired, and I asked them your question.

They went with what they called Plan J through Anthem / BC / BS.

They also mentioned that plan J was the most expensive option, but had the highest level of coverage.

You sure do.

He is a retired CPA, and he sold his firm, but still draws some income from it.

Their policy covers all of their medical expenses. He hasn't paid a dime.

The couple is in their middle seventies, and the policy runs about $1,050 / month for the both of them, IIRC.
