Wag the dog

Earlier research had revealed that happy dogs wag their tails more to the right (from the dog's point of view), while nervous dogs have a left-dominated swish.

But now scientists say that fellow canines can spot and respond to these subtle tail differences.

Hope you're happy... the damn dog hasn't gotten 5 minutes of nap time since I read this...
I keep calling her to see which side her dang tail is wagging on...

I have to wonder how this applies to Labradors, of which we had five growing up. I don't recall their tails ever being particularly stationary and usually they were a pretty awesome coffee table clearing sweeper all the way up to a blur of a high speed fan which would almost reach almost completely round the dogs side. Hard to see how that could be displaying a left or right bias.

I wonder if the principle applies to my old Cougar.

I am referring to the "thunk, thunk" of the windshield wipers.

Not unreasonable depending how their brains are formatted. They have to communicate by many methods with their own specis.

They actually do pretty well in general. Body language for them is intuitive. So they probably cannot lie or mislead.
