This looks fun...
H1 Hummer 1996 wagon
![]() Wonder how flexible he is on price... ![]() I think it would be a suitable replacement for my Duramax! Though, it can't quite tow the same payload. Thoughts?

That's one of the cars I'd like to own someday, although I'd want to retrofit a stick. I wonder how much room there is to gut the interior and seat four abreast in the front? That would be cool

wishful thinking. The 6.5 diesel can barely move a H1 alone, let alone do it fast, or tow anything large. The engines pop all the time in military service. though you could spend an extra 30k and get it duramax converted- Mash Motors Inc. | Wichita Diesel Conversions | The World Leader in Duramax Diesel Conversionso

I helped a guy do brakes on his once, and though I appreciated what an awesome 4 wheel drive system it is and how every single fitting is water tight and usually armored, its a bear and a half to service. The brake setup was fascinating though, inboard diff side rotors to maximize wheel travel. Those trucks are as big as they are because they have a ton of capability crammed into them, there is little extra space.

Too big outside, too small inside, too slow. Other than that, the only vehicle that should have ever had a Hummer badge applied to it.

Total your dirty max so you've got a drivetrain for it.

I bet you he'd regret that within 15 minutes based on the comfort loss alone. Ill say one thing for GM trucks in his style, the things are super comfortable, and really well laid out as far as driver control. However, there is an option- These guys will whip up a H1 clone body for whatever 4x4 wheelbase you seem to have. all the looks of the hummer, and underneath you might have a ford ranger. ![]() Urban Gorilla 4x4 Bodies - Home Im sure they could make a body for his existing duramax truck

lol, not knocking the ranger, just saying its an inexpensive readily available 4x4 that works pretty well and is relatively easy to service.
A ranger dressed up like a hummer would be hilarious, as this photo from that site demonstrates

I wasn't commenting on the chassis' but rather the 6.5. Hummers are neat, not for me, but they are cool I've had a few friends with them but they are dogs with a 6.5. I knew someone with a really early 454 gas truck and it seemed more powerful but the fuel economy was hilarious.

Having ridden in a couple of the H1s, I can't imagine keeping one even if someone gave it to me. Too big outside, which is made all the more puzzling by how cramped the passenger accommodations are. (I was more comfortable -- with more room -- in a Nissan Versa.) And the things are stupid noisy; it's nearly impossible to think, much less hold a conversation.
Only if I were ridiculously wealthy would I own such a thing...and at that point I'd already own a Mog, so what would be the point?

Meh its a toy, your truck is a better truck for truck stuff.
If you want to blow some money go buy a new Chevy, my framers son just bought a 2013 2500HD OTD for $38k, they are knocking a ton off the 13's now.
