It is very likely the River flooded and the Farm got flooded.

My Friend of over 20 Years has a Brother and some Nieces that lived in Tacloban. There is a extremely good chance some were injured or killed. No contact with them either.

Clearly Aid is not going to reach them in enough time or in enough amounts to save them from suffering more.
Well My Wife's missing Sister turned up. She lived on one of the outer Islands near Cebu. Her House is gone and She did not eat for 3 Days.

My Wife's Brother is also OK. The part of the Old House that was not Concrete Block is gone. He and the Neighbors stayed in the newer Concrete Block House and were safe.

He also did not eat for 3 days as the let the Children have what Food they had.

The River did Flood but did not make it to the House.
That is on Leyte on a Farm out side of the City of BayBay.

One of Her Aunts had to go to Cebu because they ran out of Food in Her area and there is none to buy.

^^^^Great news!

I am horribly sorry for their losses. It's difficult for people who have never lived in those kind of circumstances to understand the utter devastation and terribly draining process of rebuilding.

I have still not heard from my friends near Cebu. But i would be very low on their list of 'must contact'. I'm more like "contact after we find the cat and get the TV antenna back up."

China Steps Up Its Aid Game

“As hundreds of thousands of Filipinos struggled to find food, water, shelter and the bodies of loved ones in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, China quickly dipped into its world-leading $3.7 trillion of currency reserves and came up with … all of $100,000.” That Bloomberg news lead captured the general recoil at how the world’s second-largest economy treats an Asian neighbor. Other headlines stated “cheapskate,” “paltry,” “miserly” and, in one mainland-Chinese daily, “ungenerous.”

Thank goodness somebody somewhere did something stupid that didn't include either Bush or Obama.
