I have a Google ad that charges me about $1.50 per click. Bing is charging half of that. I am wondering if I should have a Bing ad as well.

So when you personally look online for a service, do you ALWAYS go to Google?

Usually Google, have to say. I'd sooner search on Yahoo (since I have an old Yahoomail account) than on Bing.

I'm bing and duckduckgo since the googs started to go evil.

I use a hosts file and block almost all ads. I ignore the ads that get through.

Google. I try to avoid Bing if at all possible.

Google primarily, avoid Bing at all costs. Not even sure of my own reasons for this anymore, I just know it's what I've been doing. I remember Bing annoyed me with excessive clutter, and trying to filter my results for me. But if we're talking ads, I should mention that I have never, ever, clicked an ad on a website (intentionally). Even if I see something I'm interested in, I'll just open another window/tab and Google it from there. From a recent conversation on another forum, it appears I'm not alone in this.

What is this "Bing" you speak of . . . is that like a "Zune"?

However, there were reports last week that a possible replacement for Steve Balmer at Microsoft has indicated that he is inclined to sell off Bing and Xbox from Microsoft's portfolio.

I advertise on Google which costs about $500 a year. It certainly produces enough income to cover that cost.

I also advertise on the church bulletin which also costs $500 a year. This does not pay for itself but it allows the church to have the bulletin for free. The ad runs even in the wintertime even if there zero business to be had.

I think I will stick to this setup for now. I thought about putting a Groupon coupon but put that out of my mind as soon as I found out that they take half of the revenue for themselves. half!

Instead, for next season, I plan to add a housecall service for an extra $40-50. No need to haul it to me, I will go to them and fix it in place.

The nice thing about having a small business is the ability to adapt to the environment. We'll see how that goes next season!
