I'm beginning to expect crap like this from TSA, but it doesn't make it any less stupid.....

I read that article and I think it's about as stupid as it gets to think you can bring a gun onto a plane. Did the stuffed monkey owner really believe that guns that are small can't kill, injure or scare people? Common sense says don't bring a gun on a plane- even a small one that appears to be a "prop" or "toy". TSA was correct in the confiscation.

Stated like that, no. Pulled out later by the creepy person across the aisle while the owner of the monkey went to the bathroom and stuck into the neck of the 12 YO girl sitting next to me? Yes. TSA cannot look at the person and say to themselves- "um, you look like a nice old lady from Pasadena so you can take the monkey and the gun on the plane" and then to the next person say "um, you look creepy to me and you cannot take the monkey and the gun on the plane". Do you think some nearly minimum wage barely vetted most likely poorly educated TSA newbie should be entrusted to make those calls? I don't.

Agree. Even if the gun is fake or a toy. There are people out that that wouldn't have a clue or understand that and think its real, after that who knows what would happen?

Has the sock monkey had proper training in plastic gun safety and a plastic gun background check? Those are the key points.

Good point. I mean, nobody has ever or will ever try to put a weapon into a harmless looking thing. Who would say, put explosives into shoes or underwear, for example. How about a belt buckle with a gun?

Further to that, YOU and I both know it is highly improbable that it is a gun. If I put that to your head, would you be willing to take that chance that it isn't real? I wouldn't want to bet my expertise on it unless I had to. Now lets put that on somebody that DOESN'T know about guns. Think they want to take the chance it isn't real?

Found an article about the tiny revolver. It's real. However, with a 2 gr bullet at 400 fps, I have doubts as to whether it could even break skin.

Velocity and grain weight are not the end all for wound severity and mortality calculations. I know I would not want something traveling four hundred feet a second hit my eye, temple or any other part of my body. Nor would I want it to hit anything else inside a airplane at 30,000 feet.
