I am not a fan of dye in my wool.

I do the same thing, saves a lot of stress in the morning. I also wear cowboy boots, that way if my socks don't match, nobody will know.

Just got back from Cabela's. None of the socks from the OP there. I did pick up some merino wool ones and others.

I can empathise with anyone experiencing leg cramps. About once a year in my case or perhaps even a little more. One episode had both legs cramped at the same time. Usually shortly after going to bed. This I particularily did not want a repeat of.

Double headers are for sports. For some people keeping their feet warm during sleep sounds like a good approach. Dehydration is the most common cause I thought but not in my case.

In my case I think it has to do with using extension type ladders and perhaps staying on the rungs too long. Or at least that seemed to be the common denominator while not the consistant causative.

One thing that made sense is when young we were told not to go swimming after eating. Logically more of the blood would be engaged in servicing the needs of the stomach after eating so at least it made sense. Also having dealt with one leg cramp when swimming was more than enough.

As I spent a couple of days last week on step a ladder installing and taping all the ductwork for a venmar. The step ladder treads are wider though is a major difference. . With no noticible issues. One thing I do during the cramping exercise is probably common. That is forcing the leg out straight. That I never considered before. Somehow the agony seems a little reduced in that position while it lasts. Getting the leg to the straight position is an effort. It is a mental boost to also know the pain will not last.

As for socks yes buying many pairs of identical socks has benefits. If for example a small hole or thin spot materializes in one it gets thrown out yet the remaining good one still has a match. Also makes the pairing job for the wife easier. I wonder why women pair them up rather than just throw them into a drawer and leave the task up to us when we want a pair? This seems to be pretty much convention for then to pair them. I wonder if it is their inherent sense of organization that drives them.

The convention of having to get dressed well tie and all has declined signifigantly in my time. To dress more or less informally has made life easier. If I want to take the wife out for dinner or go to a meeting saves time and effort now. Fifty years ago I almost had to wear a suit and tie at least fifty percent of my waking hours.. It is nice in a way to have lived long enough to see the many changes and patterns sometimes repeat.

Web shopping has been growing in volume. The postal rates may inhibit it somewhat in the future. The newer postal rates have reduced my consumption as a Canadian from American sources already. Yet with some of my interests without the web they would be totally dormant today.

I have about six items inbound from the orient now and that is typical. A new Toyota camry fuel pump with filter for my brother in law. Twenty three to twenty five dollars including shipping versus two hundred and seventy five dollars in town being the cheapest. An assortment of led light strips. Rocker switches and some replacement batteries. Most all are postage free with it built into the very reasonable selling costs.


I doubt there is a quality sock supplier in the orient currently but have never looked for example is the reason for this extended post. I never had any issues with reasonable normal markups on products as everyone has to make a living. Much of what I do see today is unreasonable in my opinion. There is no way normal manufacturing can return to north America with retailers now conditioned to having a huge markup. We may be partially creating our poor by their to me anyways unethical retail practices. The true savings on oriental merchandise is in general not passed on to the consumer.
