In Hawaii, they do get peeved if you drive the rentals out of state.
On most travel web sites, you only get really good rates if you're bundling the trip (airfare, hotel and car), to the point where the package price is cheaper than just airfare alone. On more than one occasion, paying for a package was so much cheaper that I booked (and paid in advance) for the airfare, car and hotel, for a day trip and never saw the hotel. Don't rent from the airport location, they have some pretty high surcharges.

Well, flew with the 'rents this past weekend to Denver.
All was smooth, until we just came over the Rockies into Denver. Hit a pocket of turbulence that lasted ~ 3 minutes, which shook my father up pretty well. We landed shortly after, but think that may have added to the fear of flying. Had a smooth flight back (no turbulence at all) so he was pretty relaxed for that leg. With that said, I don't know if he is willing to fly again. That little bit of turbulence freaked him out pretty good, so I may be looking to rent a car in about a month to drive back out! le'sigh. guess it's time to check out my rental options once again!
