yeah... Texas justice is realistic; he likely won't be charged. In Canada they would have charged the dad with murder and confiscated all his firearms for life.

So basically, it's OK to shoot guests invited by someone living in your house in Texas? Nice.

Guy definitely needs to be charged with manslaughter if not murder.

Like it or not, the boy was a guest invited by the man's daughter. Father CLAIMS that he was reaching for something, doesn't make it true. Father also CLAIMS that his daughter said she didn't know who the boy was. A jury should be deciding this (if daddy doesn't kick the bucket soon, considering the last paragraph). Kill someone, you should expect to go to trial...

"Detectives say the man's 16-year-old daughter let the 17-year-old boy into her family's home in Spring, Texas, and sneaked him into her bedroom, but when her father walked in and questioned who the boy was, she said she didn't know.

An argument reportedly ensued between the boy and the father.

The father told police he opened fire on the teen after the teen dropped his hands as if to grab something. He died at the scene.

No other injuries were reported, but the father was transported to the hospital after he complained he wasn't feeling well. Authorities said the man appeared to be on several medications, KHOU reported."

Good lesson for any smart-assed teen who would sneak into a daughter's bed without a parent's permission, then foolishly argue with a man with a gun. The teen should be a good candidate for the Darwin award.

I posted it to my FB with the notation that this should be a warning to all male teens. My daughter's boyfriend and his mother both liked my comment. She shared it to her wall with the warning to all three of her sons, then told the one dating my daughter that he's been warned.

Yup. Before I sleep with someone's daughter I'd get to know them better, and understand the 'house rules'.

this article gives a few more factoids, one, that the kid was actually in bed with the daughter, and two, that the detectives are sending it to a grand jury

Houston dad shoots, kills boy found inside daughter

Charges unlikely for Houston dad accused of shooting daughter

If the prosecutor is saying it's unlikely that charges will be filed, then the case is over.
I doubt either the DA's office or the police have done any investigating at all. Took names and filed a report... case closed.

Just another great reason not to live in Texas.

Wish I had said that. Hope I can remember it long enough to use it. I will use it if I can.

The Dad is a real tool. Way to go Dad. You ruined your family and especially your daughter. So, she was a slut, big deal. Now she'll be a crack head, psych case and you get to pay for it until she dies of an overdose at 40. Real man, real family man. Bravo. Try to do better with her crack babies 'cause you are probably gonna have to raise them too. Dumb A$$.
