Boneyards.
Over on one of the Bimmer forums, one day a lady logged on to report that her significant other, a crowd favorite on that forum, had passed owing to an odd collection of infirmities, he was just under 40 IINM.

She had been a member as well though not nearly as prolific as he. There followed an outpouring of grief that was generally sober and interesting. This guy was quite the character - logged on for years before he could afford a Bimmer. Went to a lot of the roundups. Was sort of adopted by a lot of the old hands.

I wasn't being awkward / sarcastic / veiled => I honestly don't know what's happened to him

Look at his post count

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/members/list/?order=DESC&sort=posts&pp=30

He's right up there as one of the great contributors but I haven't seen him for ages

Also Mikemover. I never agreed with him and disliked his style of argumentation, but never disliked him personally. I've never actually disliked anyone personally on these forums ever.

And Kirk Vining, hah. Now there was a man of many words. He was so relentless and, for the lack of a better word, lengthy. He would crush by the sheer number of words he wrote.

As long as you knew the meaning of the word "hoople" Carleton was an easy read.

Short and to the point? Some of the letter indicators are wearing totally off my keyboard. Like all things with time, members as well. They just fade or wear away.

Carleton has a brilliant vocabulary and often a very subtle sense of humor. I always looked forward to his posts.
