Anyone ever write to a company to thank them?

For building a good product?

I did that for rubbermaid after i backed a dumptruck over one of their trash cans and got the crushed can jammed between the rear traction tires. Finally got it out and it popped back to shape scuffed up, but usable

My wife does quite often for a good product or outstanding service from an employee of theirs.

I have. A few times. I don't send compliments on products that perform as they're supposed to, just for exemplary performance or above and beyond customer service or something.

I wanted to send Enron a card and thank them for dying. Then the whole world trade center thing happened and everything that was left of Enron got destroyed. I didn't know where to send the card. The white house I guess.

I have done that on occassion, primarily, when I felt they went above and beyond to help me with a problem related to their product.
