no landline here either. Waste of money these days. The wife and I both have our cell phones we leave around when we are home plugged in where the original phone went, just like a landline.
Had an issue with ADT on security calls though for their home security system. This was 3 or so years ago, but they wouldn't accept the cell phone as a safe call contact if the alarm goes off, which was annoying. Issue was further complicated by the home being a late 30s wire lath and plaster construction, which eliminates cell signals. There are downsides to using the cell as a land line, but the upsides outweigh them, and depending on the location, the downsides might be non issues |
