I'd love an old Citroen ID (the DS with slightly less complex hydraulics).

I have an extra one I am redoing completely. I'll keep you in mind. Start saving now. The car is getting a 100% restoration.

I am converting to green fluid LHM which is the same stuff th new Audis and Bentleys use. Cits have been using it since 1964.

All made by the German company Pentosin.

I'd rather buy a turdbox and restore myself rather than paying someone like you for a mint example. No offense, of course

By that I meant "car flipper". With cars or houses, I'd rather be the one doing the flippin'.

As opposed to being flippant?

Good luck in finding the parts.

I spent 20 years making a network of people in France to get parts. I bring back what I need except in a couple cases, like recently when I purchased a running 1937 1911 Perfo engine and trans and had it shipped through Customs with a an expediter. All for less than an MB engine over here.

The Americans over here will rape you worse than anything you would ever find in buying Rolls Royce parts at a dealer.
They are the most unscrupulous people you could meet.
One guy in CA sold me something, then claimed it was stolen, refused to refund me. I went to Las Vegas on business and visited him to get my money back in person.

Be prepared for that kind of chicanery and learn to read technical manauls in French, you should do ok.

By the way, since every "turdbox" you find is claimed by its owner to be a rare jewel, be prepared to pay top dollar for it.

I passed a 2CV on the NH Turnpike yesterday. Guessing it was from near the end of the run since the emblems looked to be molded plastic. Cool little cars. He was humming right along at 65 or so.

Still want one someday. I'll give you a holler!

My kind of French car.
It's relatively simple, with Ford V8 power, and late '50s Studebaker styling.
Anyone guess the name?

Happy Motoring, Mark

You're assuming that I intend to stay in the US for more than another year or two. If I get a DS, it will be in Europe -- let's say that I my uncle is in the business of restoration and has been for the past 30 years. Reading and understanding French isn't a problem either.

(Honestly, I plan to be 50/50 after I exploit this country to the max, buy a few more rentals at foreclosure...)

Good. Save your money; without Systeme D, you'll need it!

I ma sorry,

I meant the exhaust muffler . I replaced both the rear pipes already with stainless. Bought this in 1986 in southern France. Last time I drove it was 1993. It started as hydraulic. At some moment I changed to a 5 speed for better fuel economy and less noise. At this moment the clutch is frozen. I will get to it , first solve my other cars problems.....

Later J
