I have an interesting idea: Instead of querying random people from the internet as to whether or not to follow the advice of a physician who presumably is a medical school graduate and is aware of the current state of your health, seek a second opinion from another physician.

Get the damn shot. My grandma got it when she was in her early 90s. She was in great discomfort (which doctors tried different treatments for to little success) for the remainder of her life.
It's not usually fatal, but the amount of pain involved makes people almost wish it was. |

Yeah, I can see that -- no, it was the shingles that made her life miserable, not the shot. To the OP: Get the shot. If you meet someone who has shingles, you'll thank me for the advice.

Are you sure doctors are allowed to share their own opinions these days?
I'm sure that in some situations they are limited in what they can say. |

I know a woman who had some shingles on her face. Then it went away. From her face.
They attacked the nerve endings inside her body. She was in terrible pain and described it as worse than having a baby. Her Doctor, and several specialists she saw, told her she had Cancer and recommended a surgery like yesterday. So they opened her up, found nothing, and sent her home to die. A friend said she might have internal singles. Her Doctors had never heard of it. It turns out that was what she had and now, six months later, she is all better! The medication to cure the singles cost $10 total, so if you can take the pain for months and months and months then when you do break down and decide to take the cure it won't set you back much in the wallet. If I were you or if I were anybody..... I would get the shot. |

Sure is. When did you start going off the rails?
