Quote:
Let me tell you how it will be There's one for you, nineteen for me 'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman Should five per cent appear too small Be thankful I don't take it all 'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman If you drive a car, I'll tax the street, If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat. If you get too cold I'll tax the heat, If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet. Don't ask me what I want it for If you don't want to pay some more 'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman Now my advice for those who die Declare the pennies on your eyes 'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman And you're working for no one but me. Back in the 60s 70s and early to mid 80s, top producing new car sales professionals were earning big $$$$$$$$$$$. Somewhere in the mid 1980s, the bean counters decided that sales people were making way too much so commissions were cut.
As a result, many of the top producers left to go into other occupations. The end of demonstrator programs also signified a change; less benefits = top notch sales professionals were not impressed and stopped applying for sales positions. Instead, they applied for sales positions that offered better benefits AND money. I visited another dealership a few months ago and enquired about leasing. The sales agent went to locate the finance manager and brought him over to the desk where I was sitting. Through conversation, it became apparent the reason the new car sales agent had to locate the finance manager and bring him into the deal was because he didn't know anything about how new car leases worked.
