Even Microsoft is Sick of Powerpoint

What is Sway

Take a close look at the video . . . notice the number of Apple devices?

From outdated to retarded in 60 seconds or less. The name also reminds me of what a drunk does before projectile vomiting on my doorstep.

No self-contained desktop app, therefore useless for businesses or gov't entities that actually value their privacy and data security, or people who want to work on things outside the office without being bent over and anally sodomized for mobile data charges. Not everyone wants to be forced to upload a presentation on (say) a new product or a national secret to the f**king cloud servers of a mega corepiration like M$.

Thing about Powerpoint is that it just works. No data connection, WiFi, or anything else required, and your data remains your own should you desire to keep it. Replacing it with a modernized version of iWeb is frankly asinine. Local presentation tools and quick'n'dirty Web design tools are both important, and are overlapping, but orthogonal markets.

Seriously, multiple people presenting Sways over hotel WiFi with 1000 people trying to use the same connection during a conference will probably make the presenter want to punch himself in the face. Or smack the CEO of M$ in the wobbly bits with a swagger stick till it screams in agony, as the case may be. Meanwhile, the people using local presentation software will plug into a convenient HDMI port and go to town.

PowerPoint is a joke. If you want to impress good clients or high end business folks you basically make your own slides in Photoshop or something anyways. Slideshows or stacks are definitely relevant but PowerPoint is just terrible.

Then the solution is good PRESENTATION software that's fault-tolerant and LOCAL, not a bastard GMO lovechild of iWeb and a spastic chimp. This appears to be a half-decent quick Web design tool that's utterly horrible as a presentation tool for privacy and reliability reasons. If M$ thinks that a Web-based presentation creation tool (with no means to save/load local content, apparently) will replace PowerPoint in the next five years, the people pushing this crap have obviously never done a presentation under less than ideal conditions.

Decent Internet access isn't available even close to everywhere, and where it is, it's not guaranteed to work 100% of the time, especially under heavy loading. Hint: some access points, as configured by default, can only assign 100 addresses to devices before running out.

My middle school students were required to do a presentation each semester. Keynote, Apple's presentation maker is far superior to Ppt. Ppt, at least on a Mac, has always seemed kludgy and unintuitive. The iWork suite doesn't cost an arm and a leg either. No cloud BS unless you want to.

I'm indifferent to killing off PowerPoint. It works and gets the job done. I've used keynote and it's cool, totally an apple "look at me I'm better than you" product.
