Audi Problem

Help - in my usual "try to fix it but screw it up and make it worse" fashion, I now have no radio in my 96 audi cabrio. The $600 antenna grinds and is inconsistent, so I extended it and pulled the power plug out of the antenna, figuring the antenna would stay up. When I pulled the plug, the radio went dead. No problem - I just put the plug back in. Radio sayed dead. Fuse was blown - I replaced it. Everything on the curcuit woke up, except the radio is still totally dead, as is the cd player, and the "antilock off" light stays lit. I tested every fuse in the box - they are all good.

Now don't tell me I should not have pulled the plug without disconnecting the battery - I already realize that was a bone head play. But what now? Did I fry a relay? Is there another fuse somewhere? Looks like the $600 antenna may have been a bargain.

Do I need one of those VAG devices to read the error codes, or what? Help!!

Some radios have anti theft settings that render them inoperative if their power is cut (which includes changing your car battery or pulling the plug). In mercedes you either need a code card or a special tool depending on year of model. I suggest you go to the local Audi place. MB always reset my radio for free.

Yes, the audi has the "code" - but the radio is dead so it doesn't turn on to allow me to enter the code. Thanks for the help though.
