All I can say is that our Sprinter always did fine with the whole rear section (seats out) filled up 3-4 levels high with boxes and filing cabinet drawers full of files. Great work van, drives like it is much smaller.

The extra 7 to 10k might be worth the dramatic difference in fuel economy if you keep the truck long term, plus the mottori diesel is very highly regarded

Id definitely want a test drive before i ruled out the diesel version personally

i hauled 6 full 16 gallon kegs of beer in the trunk of my old 1970 olds 98.

The difference is about $2500 over the hemi. I got a ride in one at the Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle this summer. Plenty of power, and even with the radio off, you can't tell it's running when idling. The only downside I can see is the lube oil requirement, which compromises engine protection to prolong the life of the emissions systems.

If it's only a $2500 premium it's definitely worth anther look.

At a $6-7K premium for the Powerstroke and Duramax I have a tough time justifying them for our reps vehicles, which we trade in every 4-5 years or 170K miles +/- just so they are always in good shape and not in and out of the shop for little nagging things. For my shop/delivery trucks that I run for 250-300K miles the upcharge pays for itself with the fuel savings.

I had big SUV's for many years, and grew tired of herding around 6,000 lbs. of truck during the 350 days of the year that I didn't need it. I'm staying with my practically bantam-weight 4,300 lb. Ford sedan for now.
