And, as if on cue, the numbnuts brigade chimes in:

I am also a Star Trek fan, but I admit I was somewhat confused by my rather apathetic reaction to Nimoy’s death. And as I thought more about the president’s statement, I realized he identifies with the very aspects of the Spock character that most annoy me. I don’t love Spock at all.
Yep. You just saw what you thought you saw. The White House releases a statement from Obama, praising Nimoy....

Quote:
Long before being nerdy was cool, there was Leonard Nimoy. Leonard was a lifelong lover of the arts and humanities, a supporter of the sciences, generous with his talent and his time. And of course, Leonard was Spock. Cool, logical, big-eared and level-headed, the center of Star Trek’s optimistic, inclusive vision of humanity’s future.

I loved Spock.
... and the editor-in-chief of The Washington Free Beacon feels obligated to instantly flip sides and point out all of Nimoy's and Spock's oh so scary "peacenik inclinations."

In all seriousness - can we somehow convince Obama to release a statement praising the benefits of breathing? I truly believe we could reduce the number of morons on this planet in a matter of hours if he did.

I too had an issue with appearing in a play years ago. They bent my arm as after expenses 60K clear was required for a good cause. I have no ideal even today on who suggested me as a candidate for the part. I had no association with that charatable organization. Even worse is no acting experience either.

Remarkably I could not act the complex part. Instead I totally became the character when the play was on. I did not even know the audience was there I was so intense on what I was doing.

To me I had become the crazy old man with charisma and the appropriate physical and verbal displays of mental illness. No I would never do it again for any amount of money and I was asked to.
