Brag Time of a Relative:

Niece just awarded a full-ride 3-year scholarship to a major U.S. Catholic University Law School.

A value of over $100,000.00!

C'mon Aklim, have some class.

Cheers to the niece, Joe. You must be proud.

Quite, (proud) and thank you. And thanks to all others wishing well here.

She works hard studying, and spent several months last Summer studying for the LSAT test. She'll be graduating with her Bachelors Degree from a very old Southern Catholic University in May. -Yes, way near the top of her class.

I think the preferred plan is to open a law office in Dallas, Texas.

Congrats to your daughter and to you as well, now you don't have to break your retirement fund!

Seriously, Good for her! Now just hope she does not become one of those matchbook advertising ambulance chasers!

Niece became daughter?

Law? Why not real estate?

Well, you know, in Texas, sometimes sisters are also aunts, or cousins or nieces... Naturally, not in this case.

You're missing it! Her first client, once she eventually passes the Texas bar exam, will be the OP, who plans to sue some renegade female real estate agent for not allowing him to bust into a private real estate showing.

Congrats to your niece, Skid.

Getting out of college without a load of debt looming over her head is a huge step.

I didn't know they allowed Catholics down south?

Doesn't that mean no playtime? If it is a niece some places allow playtime. Daughter, go back in time to ancient Egypt. Unless it is make believe for the extra naughty factor.

THank you for the well wishes! I'd be jumping up and down as either the parent or the kid getting that notification!

My Brother has always cash-flowed up to $71K per year out-of-pocket earnings sending each and every one of his kids to private Catholic Universities or Colleges around the Country. So, no loans there. Our parents cash-flowed our private school educations, so that's his template/example to go by on that. This would be the first grand scholarship earned. Four kids down, (graduated) two to go.

Great to hear the positive responses today here!

I think it's great that she did so well in school and got a scholarship for her work. I just dont get the point of talking about money. Seems pretty tacky and insecure.

Kudos to her though.
