Need help in Oklahoma, mom is stuck! (Ford Truck)

Hello!
My mom is travelling home to CA from a Air Force training assignment. She drove to Ohio with my step dad to have a mini vacation. Well, they made it to Sayre Oklahoma, and the engine in his Ford Excursion has blown a head gasket. She's looking for a place to tow it to who could work on it and get the head gasket repaired or the engine replaced. Any locals out there who could help point us in the right direction?

Middle of nowhere. Best off having it shipped home and use a trusted mechanic.

You can call local salvage yards, many will install engines they sell or have a good recommendation.

That's too far out of my area to know much about it, but I would think having it towed to Elk City would be the best bet. There are better hotels and of course more mechanics to chose from.

If the engine is fried and needs a new one Oklahoma City is not too far away. One could be delivered to Elk City in a few hours.

The only other logical thing to do would be to rent a U-Haul and tow it home or to drag it over to Amarillo. Once you get five miles off either side of I-40 you just drop off the edge of the earth.

She could also have it towed into Shamrock, Texas which is a bigger city than it looks like on the map. They also have some nice hotels there.

And....

I have driven as far as 400 miles on one car of Bar's Leak. And after that I would just pour in another.

Not a fix by any means, but it will get you a little further on down the road.

The only place to go is the Ford Heavy Duty Dealer shop on El Reno west of downtown OKC. They've done work on my Ford 7.3 PowerStrokeDiesel before. Small town Ford dealers? I wouldn't waste my time there.
