3 15" Centras for $75?

Looking at these wheels on CL:

Seller says that one of them is missing a chunk (?) and that there is some chrome peeling. What do you guys think? Is it worth it, even if only two are usable?

Seller says that a chunk is missing from the edge. He will send me a pic of it in a few days when he gets back to them (not at the house right now).

I was looking on eBay, and it looks like wheels in similar condition (sans the missing chunk) sold recently for $45 apiece, so even if the wheel with the missing chunk is useless, the price is still better.

That's what I'm thinking. As long as I can figure out a way to strip the chrome, or pay someone to do it, I could polish and seal the wheels for a clean look. These are pretty much my favorite wheels for these cars.

2 in the hand is two more you don't have to find when you go to the next listing of one or two rims.

Ugh you have bad taste in rims J-man.

But for $75 I'd go for it, the damaged one is probably repairable.

Stripping chrome is sort of a huge pain without the right equipment, but it can be done.

Ha, I just finally caught the dichotomy in that post.

The gold star is a bit too blingy for me. This picture is the closest to what I would want, although without the dumb fender trim and with polished & sealed aluminum instead of chrome:

Part of the motivation is to upgrade to 15" wheels so that I'll have a wider range of tires to pick from, both new and used. Ordinarily, I'd try to stick with stock, but I don't like the stock 15-hole rims.

If you are able to repair the "bad" wheel, and find another pair of the same kind, use the repaired "bad" wheel as a spare.

In my garage are 2 more Centra 15" bundts I need to send off for restoration, for the same reason. Apparently one of them has been repaired.

Cool, I was wondering if I could do that.
